CCCI slates three-day Wellness show

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) is taking another initiative to promote the Beauty, Health, and Wellness industries in Cebu to further stress the province's capability to compete with international Wellness destinations.

This coming November, CCCI will hold a three-day Beauty, Health, and Wellness Show 2005, that will group together all the players in the industry, inviting other exhibitors from other areas in the Philippines.

Carrying the theme "Enhancing Business in Beauty, Health & Wellness," CCCI will offer over 100 booths for exhibitors to showcase their products and services.

CCCI vice president for business development Clarito Fruelda said aside from recognizing the availability of good products and services for the entire Wellness sector in the country, the event will also serve as a venue to initially group together the players and form an association to professionalize this new industry.

Fruelda added that creating this kind of event could also help iron out the concerns faced by the industry players, as CCCI will also invite and will ask support from government agencies, and local government units (LGUs).

CCCI, which has been actively promoting the tourism development for Cebu, is now heading to strengthen the support services in tourism, and the Wellness industry he said is the sector that needs wide promotion both in domestic and international markets.

"This can be the proverbial seed that we want to plant now and let it grow in the future. The Spa, fitness, beauty, healthy, and wellness sectors are gaining momentum. Services and products of this sector available in Cebu should be highlighted," Fruelda said in a press conference.

Set to open on November 25-27 this year at SM City Trade Hall, CCCI is expecting to hold a similar event in the following years.

Like Thailand, Cebu is also bidding to attract tourists not only to enjoy the beaches, and historical sites, but also to taste the wide array of Wellness services in Cebu, like Spa, medical-spa joints, among others.

Exhibitors include; cosmetics and skin care products and specialists, beauty salons, designers-apparel, HMOs, pharmaceutical firms, suppliers of alternative medicine, energy drinks, food supplements, fitness gyms and Spas.

Aside from services and product showcases, the three-day event will also hold actual demonstration, seminars and skills expose.

The BHW Show 2005 will also serve as the venue for convergence of health buffs, seasoned beauty practitioners and newcomers to holistic health.

According to Fruelda, the event provides opportunity for merchants and visitors to establish new contacts and opening up future new ventures for trade.
