Globe Slipstream, a one-day event of speed exhibitions, music performances and other fun-filled activities for the whole family will highlight the telco’s partnership with Lotus F1 Junior Team and Marlon Stockinger, the first Filipino Junior Lotus F1 driver on August 30, 2014, Saturday, at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
Globe is building a race track along the streets of BGC to make way for the Lotus WSR Driving Exhibition of Stockinger, karting competition and other speed demonstrations, leading to the closure of several roads from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., as follows:
- Rizal Drive
- 3rd Avenue
- 28th Street (between 3rd Avenue and 9th Avenue)
- 9th Avenue (between 28th Street and 30th Street)
- 30th Street (between 9th Avenue and 3rd Avenue)
- 5th Avenue (between 28th Street and 30th Street)
Only 7th Avenue will be open to traffic to make way for cars entering and leaving One Parkade and Two Parkade. It will be open from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Those who need access to C5, EDSA, Buendia Flyover, McKinley Road, McKinley Hill and Gate 3 of Fort Bonifacio may take the following roads:
- 32nd Street
- 26th Street
- 11th Avenue
- 2nd Avenue
- McKinley Parkway
“Globe brings this event to the Philippines as a rare treat to Filipinos who want to have a slice of the F1 Grand Prix experience. It is also a celebration of our network modernization milestone where we activated our 3G network nationwide, allowing more Filipinos to experience faster mobile browsing, as well as the recent victory of Marlon Stockinger in the 2014 Formula Renault 3.5 series, a feat which we should all be proud of,” said Peter Bithos, Chief Operating Advisor at Globe.
Globe Slipstream is open to the public. The Main Event Area is located in Bonifacio High Street, housing the main stage where the program takes place. This is also where the Lotus F1 Static Car and the Lotus F1 Simulators are. The different Globe brand booths are also located at the Main Event Area where guests can discover the latest products and promos through interactive speed games and activities.
The Race Day Grandstand, in front of Track 30th, has bleachers and is right in front of the karting competition area. It also has a stage where bands from Radio Republic will perform. The Family Fun Activity Area, in front of Terra 28th, features cool speed experiments from Mad Science as well as a gaming area by Hobbes and Landes.
The Outdoor Music Festival takes place in the evening at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater, which features performances from DJ Joey Santos, Autotelic, Yolanda Moon, Up Dharma Down and foreign indie acts Dualist Inquiry and Chk Chk Chk. Admission is free.
