Girl, 17, found dead with gunshot wound in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines — A 17-year-old girl was found dead with a gunshot wound in her head in Quezon City last Tuesday.

The victim was inside the room of her family’s residence in Barangay Milagrosa when the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m., according to police.

The victim’s aunt said they were awakened by a gunshot in their house. When they went to the victim’s room, she saw the girl lying on the floor.

The victim’s parents brought her to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center for medical treatment, but despite efforts by doctors, she died around 8:56 a.m.

Police said the victim’s cause of death was hemorrhagic shock and severe traumatic brain injury due to a gunshot to the forehead.

Probers recovered a .45-caliber handgun at the scene of the shooting.

Police are investigating if there was foul play in the victim’s death.
