MANILA, Philippines — GMA Network claimed a lead in television ratings in key areas of Urban Luzon and Mega Manila in August, citing latest data from the Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.
In a statement Wednesday, GMA said it earned 39.8 percent in total day ratings in Urban Luzon, with ABS-CBN with its 32.2 percent and TV5's 7.5 percent behind it.
In Mega Manila, GMA topped the ratings war with 42 percent of household viewership. ABS-CBN, on the other hand, shared 28.4 percent and TV5 claimed 7.9 percent.
Citing data from the National Urban Television Audience Measurement, GMA said its noontime show Eat Bulaga, topped the line-up of Kapuso shows across all areas.
The network said the noontime show's draw was driven by the phenomenal success of its AlDub kalye-serye, or street series, segment featuring the make-believe love team of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards.
ABS-CBN takes primetime
Citing data from Kantar media, ABS-CBN, meanwhile, kept its lead in the primetime block covering 6 p.m. to 12 midnight last month.
It had an average national audience share of 52 percent, while GMA only got 29 percent.
The supremacy of the Kapamilya network for the month of August was bolstered by the launch of new teleseryes and the highly anticipated finales of primetime programs,” ABS-CBN said.
