Cooperative

IYO ANTOY - Antolin dela Serna - Banat

Ganahan kaayo kong maghisgot og kooperatiba, tungod kay, among others, daghan kaayo kita’g maani nga kaayohan, mga economic benefits gikan niini, sama sa pag-improve sa atong financial well-being, ug pagpalig-on sa atong social connections.

Dugang sa Google, they create local jobs, provide essential services, and empower members to participate in decision-making.

On the other hand, unsa man gayud kining pulong cooperative? Tubag nila ni Gil Garcia ug Marie Anne Guanzon sa University of Santo Tomas, ug author sa libro Book on Cooperatives:

“Simply stated, a cooperative is a group of people working in cooperation with each other for a common good. Man’s very nature is cooperation. This is not a modern-day invention.

Cooperation is as old as mankind itself. It is just absolutely impossible to think how man survived through the ages it they did not help one another.”

So, simple kaayo ang kahulogan sa pulong cooperative. Bayanihan, pagtinabangay.

Ang nature ug characteristics sa kooperatiba: “Service ug community-oriented, managed by its members; Self-help ug mutual-help ventures.” Among others, katuyoan sa kooperatiba: To encourage thrift and savings among the members; to generate funds and extend credit to the members for productive and provident purposes.”

Sa atong giingon sa unahan, mao kini ang kulang natong mga Pinoy, ang pagdaginot (not necessarily pagkakuripot o pagka-miser) ug pagtigom, o paghipos og kwarta, for deposit, alang sa taliabot nga katuyoan.

What type of cooperative is the Cebu CFI Community Cooperative? Tubag sa google: “CCFI is a members-only incorporated entity which has over the years, grown to more than 170,000 members (sa akong pagsuwat niini), and continues to grow by the day because of the benefits enjoyed from membership.”

Ang CCFI (in which I am a member) nalakip sa talaan sa napulo ka major coops sa tibuok nasud.

Daklit nga kasaysayan gikan sa Google: “The Cebu CFI Community Cooperative (CFI Coop) was established in 1970 as a response to the high interest rates charged by money lenders to employees of the Cebu Courts of First Instance.

Initially, these court employees faced a "debt trap" due to the high interest rates on their loans, often leading to financial hardship.”

So, gumikan sa subra ka taas sa interest rates sa pahulam sa mga empleyado Cebu Courts of First Instance, namugna ang CFI Coop, led by Judge Esperanza Garcia, as an alternative to the usurious lending practices.

Dugang kasayoran gikan sa google: “In the Philippines, cooperatives offer members various benefits, including financial, social, and educational advantages, sama sa dividend on paid-up capital; patronage refund, sense of financial security and general well-being; access to various loan products and services offered to the members.
