Number of travelers from Cebu to Thailand to increase
MANILA, Philippines — The number of visitors from Cebu, the Visayas, and Mindanao to Thailand is expected to rise significantly with the launch of direct flights from Mactan Cebu International Airport to Thailand.
Recently, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Cebu Pacific Air announced a new collaboration to open a direct flight route between Cebu and Bangkok.
This initiative aims to attract more travelers from Cebu, the Visayas and Mindanao regions to Thailand, offering them a convenient and affordable travel option.
The new route will operate three times a week, connecting Cebu to Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport.
This collaboration is expected to boost tourism and strengthen the cultural ties between the Philippines and Thailand.
The new Cebu-Bangkok route is part of a broader strategy by TAT to enhance connectivity between Thailand and key markets in the Philippines.

TAT recently hosted a welcoming ceremony at Chiang Mai International Airport to mark Cebu Pacific's inaugural direct flight from Manila to Chiang Mai.
More than 100 passengers were greeted with traditional flower garlands and commemorative gifts, celebrating the new travel route.
Senior executives and representatives from TAT, along with key stakeholders from public and private sector tourism organizations, attended the event on October 30 for the inaugural flight 5J874.
Ms. Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and the South Pacific, highlighted the importance of the new direct service between Manila and Chiang Mai, stating it strengthens the ties between the Philippines and Thailand while offering Filipino travelers better access to northern Thailand's unique cultural and natural attractions.
She added that Chiang Mai is poised to become a favorite destination for Filipino tourists seeking new experiences beyond Bangkok and Phuket.
Cebu Pacific now boasts the most direct flights between the Philippines and Thailand, with routes from Manila, Clark, Cebu, and Davao to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports.
